Orcs aren’t so bad! They’re not exactly friendly, but at least it appears that they aren’t purely evil-minded and torturous.
Pippin passes out during the next few hours of travel, and he wakes roughly when thrown back on the ground. Some orc scouts have returned, and he overhears their report to Uglúk. They spotted a horseman from afar, and he rode off.
YOU FOOLS! That horseman was probably a scout as well, and now they’ll have the power of Rohan down on them in no time. It’s time to go again. However, the orcs are too tired and grumbly to carry Merry and Pippin any further, and certainly not down the East Wall of Rohan. Uglúk comes over, and roughly pulls Pippin up. He cuts his leg bonds, and forces some sort of putrid liquor down his throat. Suddenly, everything feels better. He does the same to Merry after rubbing his head wound with a strange substance. Even Merry is good as new, and making wisecracks like normal. Uglúk disapproves of the wisecracks.
Magic healing orc liquor!
Pippin understands that Uglúk needs to get his team moving, and carrying the two prisoners around is slowing them down. The only way to go faster? Get those two walking! He exhibits the rarely-seen knowledge that if you treat your prisoners well, they’ll end up not causing as much trouble. Well, at least you would think so. If nothing else, he can move faster.
However, remember when Aragorn noticed a short trail of hobbit tracks leading away from the orc pack? That escape attempt has got to be coming up soon. That happens not too far from the foot of the East Wall. And, looking back, Aragorn guesses that those were Pippin’s tracks. Again, it all makes sense.
Words My Computer Didn’t Like:
What, totally normal compound words? Today’s “new” words seem so tame compared to stuff like “Grishnákh”. Oh yeah, remember him? He disappeared in the melee last evening. I’m sure he’ll return in anger again soon.
“‘None of that! Hold your tongues. No…'”
